Applying Discounts on Work Orders

When taking discounts into account on work orders you can approach it from a few different ways:

Customer Discount:

Record a % discount in the Customer's record in the Contacts file first. Every time you create a work order for this customer, their discount will auto-fill. As always, this can be manually over-ridden. This is useful if you are giving a wholesale % discount for framing to an artist or interior designer.

Work Order Discount Boxes:

You may apply a discountto the entire framing order by entering a dollar off amount into the $ or % boxes at the bottom of the Pricing Section of the Work Order screen, top upper right. If you apply the % discount, the Unit Price will show the value before the discount. The Amount price will show the price with the discount applied. If you use the dollar off discount box, the Unit Price and Amount will appear the same. No discount will appear on the posted invoice in this instance.

Individual Framing Component Discounts:

Each of the framing materials may also be discounted. The detail screens, i.e. Frame1, allow you to discount each frame, each mat, each mounting item, etc. E.g. in the mat detail screen you may apply a % off to each mat at the end of the line item. This might be helpful if you know you have a drop-out of a mat which you would like to offer at a discount. Or perhaps you are having a sale on frames only. To achieve this on the work order you apply the % off to just the Frame1 screen.

Lock Price Button:

Locking the price may be used as a discount tool.

Click Lock Price. Over-ride the calculated price with whatever price you choose, i.e. rounding up or down or basing a new price on the COG, etc. The new price will be entered on to the work order.
